Little Missed Sunshine

Finally, caught Little Miss Sunshine this weekend on DVD and though it was pretty good. Not great, but good. The flick abouLittle Miss Sunshinet a dysfunctional families road trip to the Little Miss Sunshine child beauty pageant is on a ton of best of and critics picks list and for good reason.

The cast including Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, Alan Arkin and Steve Carrell each give great performances. Arkin, as a perverted grandfather is particularly good. But the movie does drag at times and you’ve seen this before, quirky characters each with there own flaws go on a road trip and conquer there problems.

One refreshing aspect of the movie is that all of the characters in the family actually care about each other. This is not a cynical movie despite the endings which you can see coming from a mile away but is still enjoyable. We’re sure the flick will do well during tonight’s Golden Globes (It’s nominated for two) and it’ll garner a few nods at Oscar time most likely for the writing but perhaps our biggest want from LMS was an ending that wasn’t quite so sunny.
